Andrew McConnell’s Gertrude Street pub is always a popular spot – now it’s giving you access to members-only tables.
The Builders Arms is a Fitzroy institution. It feels like a classic neighbourhood pub in the front, with burgers and lagers on tap. But further inside it’s a table service bistro with a menu of contemporary pub classics, rotating specials and wines from interesting, new-wave producers like Unico Zelo and Das Juice.
Our top picks are the moreish whipped cod roe dip scooped up with flat bread and their signature flaky fish pot pie (steaming pastry filled with a soupy, aromatic mess of rockling, ocean trout and prawn). Don’t miss the pub’s popular Monday steak night, which often books out, featuring a 250-gram porterhouse with piping hot fries, plus salad.
Every day of the week, The Builders Arms is giving us access to tables that have previously been unbookable by the public, and for the first time have been made available through Broadsheet Access.
