Get the Broadsheet Table at Gimlet
Gimlet is one of Melbourne’s hardest restaurants to get into – now it’s giving you access to members-only tables.
Andrew McConnell’s lavish Gimlet, located on the ground floor of Cavendish House, was an instant classic when it opened in 2020. Inside there’s a black-and-gold marble bar, chandeliers, lush velvet booths, a sophisticated cocktail list and a European-leaning menu that exemplifies McConnell’s dedication to top produce treated simply. Earlier this year Gimlet was recognised on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 longlist, coming in at number 84.
Our top picks from the menu are oysters topped with seaweed butter and rye; the signature Southern rock lobster wood-roasted in saffron rice with “bisque sauce”, and anything from the roaming cheese trolley. From the drinks list, don’t go past a zingy take on the bar’s namesake, the Gimlet. It’s made with gin, three different types of citrus, a little moscato and native Geraldton wax.
Every day of the week, Gimlet is giving us access to tables that have been made available for the first time through Broadsheet Access.
Get a table for two, at 3pm or 9pm on select dates from October to December, and every night of the week in 2023.
You can book 30 days in advance (and a minimum of two days prior) of your desired booking date.
