Intimate underground establishment Spice Temple is all about innovative Asian-Australian flavours.

 

This dining room is fitted out with dark timber tables, padded red leather benches and moody lighting, adding to an alluring atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else. As a Broadsheet editor once put it: this is one temple that deserves devotion. 

 

Every visit here brings a new experience of surprising flavours, backed by a knowledge and passion for Chinese cuisine. Designed to share, the menu consists of stylish, vibrant dishes that draw inspiration from the far-flung provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi and Xinjiang. Expect warmth, excitement and texture across a variety of dishes, from silky tofu to crunchy fried onion and crisp pork belly.

 

Our top picks from the menu are the tea-smoked duck salad with mustard-soy dressing; hot and numbing dry Wagyu beef; and the spicy kung pao chicken cooked with Sichuan peppercorns, heaven-facing chillies and cashews.

 

Every day of the week, Spice Temple is giving us access to tables that have been made available for the first time through Broadsheet Access. 

 

Get a table for two or four from Monday to Saturday at 6.30pm or 8pm, or for two or four from Wednesday to Friday at 12.30pm. 

 

You can book 30 days in advance (and a minimum of two days prior) of your desired booking date.
