This moody restaurant is one of the best spots for fine-tuned Japanese food and it’s always hard-to-book – now it’s giving you access to members-only tables.

 

Inside this three-tiered Flinders Lane restaurant, there’s a unique dining experience on every level. Up top, there’s a private kaiseki-style dining room and a bar dedicated to chablis (offering 80 steely chardonnays that pair indisputably well with sashimi). At street level, a vast New York-style sushi bar with an intimate view of the chefs at work. And downstairs, a windowless, bustling basement dining room with a hot kitchen and semi-private nook.

 

Expect cold dishes like simple salmon sashimi and sushi rolls, prepared by one of three qualified sushi masters on-site, and in the hot section, moreish snacks and umami-fuelled share plates.

 

Our top picks on the menu are miso smoked eggplant served on rice crackers; pork gyoza with nori furikake; and wagyu scotch fillet topped with nashi soy and charred lime.
