Glamorous Italian steakhouse Grill Americano is always booked out – now it’s giving you access to members-only tables.

Venetian elegance, New York energy and Melbourne nostalgia collide at Grill Americano, the newest eatery from influential restaurateur Chris Lucas. When you walk down Flinders Lane, it’s hard to miss the shimmering “Grill Americano” inscribed in cursive. Step inside the dining room – with its plush royal-blue booths and massive chandeliers – for an evening of grandeur and immaculate service.

The menu relies on a woodfired grill and Naples-imported wood oven, with exceptional dishes inspired by northern Italy. Many of them are served tableside, for added theatricality.

Our top picks are the woodfired scampi for two atop saffron pilaf, the show-stopping 1.2-kilogram bistecca alla Fiorentina – one of Tuscany’s most famous dishes, cooked over charcoal – and an elegant tiramisu scooped from an oval platter and served straight onto your plate. There’s a lavish list of cocktails to choose from, including the namesake Americano made with cacao-nib vermouth.

Every day of the week, Grill Americano is giving us access to tables that have previously been unbookable by the public, and for the first time have been made available through Broadsheet Access.

Get a table for two or four, every night at 6pm and 8.30pm.

You can book 30 days in advance (and a minimum of three days prior) of your desired booking date.

Check out our other tables at Chris Lucas’s Society Dining Room, Kisumé, Chin Chin, Yakimono, and Lillian Brasserie.
