Sydney’s first-ever fine vegan diner is always busy – now it’s giving you access to members-only tables.

 

Yellow was an instant hit when it was first opened. Yet in 2016, it boldly chose to refocus its menu entirely on vegetables. But unlike most plant-based restaurants in Sydney, this wasn’t based on ethics. Co-owner and chef Brent Savage wanted to prove that veggies can taste just as delicious as any meat-based dish, heroing unique heirloom vegetables sourced from local suppliers. Since then, Yellow has become one of the city’s most popular fine-dining restaurants, even among the carnivores.

 

Housed inside a namesake golden yellow terrace that was once a gallery and artist residence, Yellow features a softly lit dining room with fitting accents of canary, mustard and saffron.  

 

Service is always a six-course set menu. Expect inventive plates with seemingly simple combinations, such as crispy eggplant croquettes; burnt cabbage with broad bean and whipped Dutch potato; and a refreshing rockmelon and watermelon granita to finish. And to match, there’s a wine list featuring vegan, natural and biodynamic wines from some of Australia’s most progressive producers, as well as non-alcoholic pairings.
