The latest Broadsheet Access getaway is here and this time, you don’t even have to leave the city. It’s the perfect cool-weather staycation.

The Lyall is a five-star boutique hotel, like no other. Taking inspiration from a Parisienne pied-a-terre, you are welcomed with an intimate arrival surrounded by beautiful design with bespoke Tasmanian oak furniture featured throughout, woven wallpaper and alpaca velvet throws. And if that’s not luxurious enough, the room also includes a pillow menu, velour bathrobes, a Dyson hair dryer and a coffee machine. If you didn’t have a complimentary dinner at Cucinetta, you might never leave.

Luckily, Cucinetta (meaning “little kitchen”) is just two doors down from The Lyall. The restaurant features a compact menu and curated wine list paying homage to northern Italian dining. In terms of ambiance, the restaurant space gives intimate a new meaning, at just 29 square metres. All the ingredients arrive fresh each morning, and your wine will be served in a tumbler, because that’s how they do it in Italy. Don’t worry: there’s always a bottle of grappa on standby.
