Oi! Who wants to see some diabolical?

 

The fifth and final season of The Boys hits Prime Video this week, promising even more super-powered political satire and gross-out ultraviolence as our band of anti-heroes takes on the establishment one last time.

 

To celebrate, Prime Video is hosting a Sydney premiere event at Luna Park on Monday April 13 – and a handful of lucky Broadsheet Access members (and their mates) are invited.

 

Leading man Karl Urban (Star Trek, Thor: Ragnarok, Lord of the Rings) will walk the red carpet ahead of a Q&A session on what’s being billed as an “immersive night of chaos”. Which, for fans of the series, only seems appropriate.

 

The Emmy-winning series, based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, imagines a world where superheroes are real – but so, sadly is shareholder capitalism, sexual assault, racial inequality and hyper-partisan politics.

 

The titular Boys, led by Billy Butcher (Urban) are the resistance – a lovable gang of losers who are humanity’s last line of defence. In the final season, head supe and egomaniac Homelander (an ersatz Superman) seems to have triumphed. But the Boys still have a few tricks up their sleeves.
