Tickets to the 2022 NGV Gala are sold out, but you and a friend could still walk the red carpet at this black-tie event celebrating its blockbuster exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse.

 

The annual NGV Gala returns this December for a celebration of food, fashion, and art, and the unveiling of its new exhibition Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muses.

 

This is the first major Australian exhibition to spotlight the legendary British fashion designer. Drawn from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the NGV’s own collection, it will showcase over 120 stunning garments and accessories alongside more than 70 historical artworks speaking to what influenced McQueen. And it’ll trace the theatrical, trailblazing designer’s career from his controversial early collections to his last complete collection of 2010, the year he died.

 

The NGV Gala is heralded as Melbourne’s biggest party of the year – the city’s answer to New York’s annual Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Previous guest lists have included the likes of Nicole Kidman and Natalie Portman.
