The Dolphin is taking you to southern Italy for the day with an exclusive, boozy lunch for just 20 guests. Tickets are $145 each, but we’re giving you and a friend the chance to attend for free.

The Dolphin’s resident wine director, Shun Eto, has just returned from Sicily, and has brought his favourite wines from Sicilian producer Frank Cornelissen home with him. You can taste them all during a one-off masterclass lunch and wine mixer on Sunday December 4.

First up, enjoy a long lunch inspired by communal Sicilian dining. Expect three moreish courses – including fried zucchini flowers dressed with Calabrian chilli oil; mussels, calamari and prawns cooked in caponata sauce; and grilled lamb skewers glazed in agrodolce – matched with beautiful minimal-intervention wines. Eto and The Dolphin’s sommelier will talk you through each wine and explore how the Sicilians eat and drink.

Stick around for a special wine-tasting of top Italian producers like Girolamo Russo and Pietradolce, with snacks such as crisp anchovy toast with seaweed butter and Naples-style pizza doused with San Marzano sauce. And after that, the party opens to the public with local DJs, roaming pizza slices, vinos and cocktails.
