Opening on November 10, Frederick Ashton’s double bill The Dream/Marguerite and Armand is one of The Australian Ballet’s final performances for 2023.

 

The Dream is a surreal, romantic work celebrating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth and paying special homage to A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

 

First performed in 1963, Marguerite and Armand tells the story of a tragic affair between the doomed courtesan Marguerite and her lover Armand, framed through a series of flashbacks. This is the ballet’s Australian premiere, making it one of the most anticipated shows of the year.
