The NGV’s Melbourne Design Week is back. The 10-day showcase, running May 18 to 28, is Australia’s largest annual international design event. Celebrating the diversity and excellence of Australian design and architecture, it’s a platform to showcase Australian talent of all stripes. In partnership with the NGV, Broadsheet is giving away a staycation that’ll give you the chance to fully embrace Melbourne Design Week.

 

On Saturday May 20, you and a friend will drop your bags at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins for a one-night stay. Once settled in, a gleaming Mercedes-Benz will transfer you to the Melbourne Design Fair at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, where you can wander this exceptional showcase of more than 150 designers, while perhaps making a purchase or two.

 

At 6.30pm head to Andrew McConnell’s Cumulus Inc on Flinders Lane in the CBD, where you’ll have $250 to spend on the Chef’s Menu Selection, paired with a glass of Victorian red or white wine.

 

Following a good night’s sleep at the Sofitel, on Sunday you’ll be driven to NGV International for Melbourne Art Book Fair to discover some of the world’s best independent publishers, art book makers, authors, galleries and more.
