Australia’s premier queer film fest returns for its 36th edition this November, with 53 sessions of features, documentaries and short films – including one world and three Aussie premieres. This year’s theme is “Into the Light”, celebrating the diversity of queer stories that uplift and enrich our lives.

Highlights include NZ Y2K coming-of-age film Big Girls Don’t Cry, actor-of-the-moment Sandra Hüller in Rose, and Time Warp – winner of the Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary Feature at the 2026 Tribeca Festival following a small-town drag theatre company’s production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Plus look out for retrospective screenings of Ang Lee’s iconic Brokeback Mountain, Gus Van Sant’s Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, and A24’s Oscar-winning Moonlight.
