Confined 17 – a compelling exhibition featuring works from 424 First Peoples artists with lived experience of incarceration in Victoria – is wrapping up next weekend. But there’s still time to see everything up close and personal with our exclusive private tour on a date to be arranged with the winner. You’ll see paintings, weavings, ceramics and carved emu eggs – alongside unexpected works like woven eel traps, a painted guitar and a sculpture made from kangaroo bones. All pieces are by artists connected to The Torch’s Indigenous Arts in Prisons and Community program, and tell the story of kinship, healing, cultural identity and resilience. 

The Torch – a First Peoples-led not-for-profit – supports a First Peoples community of artists to break the cycle of incarceration by strengthening cultural connection and knowledge through arts practice. All exhibition artworks are available to purchase in gallery or online and 100 per cent of the artwork price goes directly to the artist.
