You’ve likely heard of Southeast Asian restaurant Chin Chin. Or enjoyed an evening at contemporary Japanese grill Yakimono. Well, a new Japanese-inspired bar and restaurant is coming to Windsor – and Broadsheet Access members can experience it before it opens to the public. 

 

Tombo Den, from Chris Lucas’s Lucas Restaurants, is an intimate, two-storey venue that taps into the brutalist energy of urban Tokyo. Leading Tombo Den’s culinary offering is celebrated chef Dan Chan (Yardbird, Supernormal), as well as Tokyo-born master sommelier Yuki Hirose (Society), who has curated a tight list of sakes, wines and cocktails designed to complement the food. Helming the restaurant's sushi counter (with a changing range of nigiri, handrolls and other seafood-led dishes) are Kisume sushi masters Toaki Kyo and Carlos Lopez, who bring heightened levels of skill along with plenty of creative edge.

 

Access members will be seated with a choice of complimentary cocktail and a set menu of share plates. Think perfectly assembled sashimi, handrolls and nigiri. To finish the evening, there’ll be a strawberry and sake ice-cream sundae, garnished with financier, and Matcha ice magic. Between courses, allow Chris Lucas and Dan Chan to talk you through the story of Tombo Den. 

 

You’ll be one of the first to experience Tombo Den when it opens exclusively to Access members on September 5, before it opens to the public.
