The Tony Award-winning musical is coming to Melbourne, and we’ve got three double passes (six tickets total) to opening night up for grabs. First in, best dressed.
Lanie Robertson’s Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill takes you into the world of American jazz icon Billie Holliday. Set during springtime in 1959, the action takes place in South Philadelphia, inside a small, run-down bar called Emerson’s, where Holiday prepares to perform one of her final shows.
The titular role is played by Zahra Newman (Miss Julie), accompanied by a jazz trio. Through song and spoken word, we hear anecdotes about Holiday’s life between renditions of her classics, including God Bless the Child and Strange Fruit.
Presented by Melbourne Theatre Company from Thursday October 19 until Saturday December 2, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill is not only an acting and vocal showcase, but also a tender insight into the iconic singer’s life.
To claim your free ticket to the opening night performance, enter your details via the form below.
Tickets drop at 4pm on Thursday October 5.
