Shot in secret and resulting in the persecution and deportation of its director, this Oscar-shortlisted film documents the tumultuous journey of a family in Iran, surrounded by political upheaval. When Iman’s service weapon goes missing, paranoia turns him against the women in his family. Masterful storytelling meshes with real-life protest footage, as civil unrest boils in response to compulsory hijab laws. 

Praised as “Brilliant … mesmerisingly gripping … electrically tense” by the Telegraph, The Seed of the Sacred Fig won prizes at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, along with the Audience Award at Sydney Film Festival. The film will hit theatres on February 27, and we have limited in-season tickets that can be used at any participating cinema.
