Access members can score a complimentary double pass to ACMI Nights: The Future & Other Fictions. And it’ll be a packed night. Expect a line-up of nine innovative performances, after-hours gallery access to ACMI exhibits, a pop-up arcade, cocktail bar and lively d-floor. As the name suggests, the event features future-focused creatives who are redefining art at the intersection of culture, tech and music. 

 

There’ll be sets from:

 

• Tina Disco: DJ fusing ’90s electro with her Latina heritage.
• MaggZ: movement artist specialising in waacking, a freestyle dance from disco-era LA.
• Nū: Ethiopian-Australian sound artist and live coder who’ll be improvising sonic experiences.
• Brown Suga Princess: DJ blending South Asian sounds, footwork, jungle and heavy bass.
• Christopher Gurusamy: Australian Indian dancer, drawing from Hindu philosophy.
• Kieran Butler: creative producer working across various tactile mediums to explore queer identity.

ACMI is Melbourne’s museum of screen culture, fostering the next gen of players, makers and watchers. At the event you’ll be able to wander through Serwah Attafuah’s five-screen artwork The Darkness Between the Stars and the neon-lit The Future & Other Fictions.
