We’ve secured the last Friday Nights tables at the Bar Lourinha x NGV pop up – and they’re the best you can get. To coincide with the launch of world-premiere exhibition, Melbourne Winter Masterpieces®: The Picasso Century, the NGV has announced the return of its end-of-workweek extravaganzas, Friday Nights. And with it, the gallery’s Garden Restaurant is being transformed into a Spanish tapas bar by Melbourne institution Bar Lourinha, from June 10 to October 7.

 

Executive chef Matt McConnell is bringing some of the bar’s best Iberian and Mediterranean-inspired dishes to the pop-up. At the Broadsheet Table, where you can choose an a la carte menu or Friday Nights banquet package, try golden jamon croquetas, manzanilla-braised beef cheek and zesty blood-orange creme caramel. Drinks-wise, expect Spanish-inspired Negronis and a spotlight on sherry from El Marco de Jerez, Spain’s “sherry triangle”.

 

If you opt for the banquet package, you’ll be able to check out the exhibition plus Friday Nights for live performances and DJ sets from the likes of electric Papua New Guinea-born, Aussie-based songstress, Ngaiire, Aboriginal neo-soul powerhouse Emma Donovan, and more.

 

NGV Friday Nights tables are for two, at 6.30pm. The Friday Nights banquet package is $120 per person, which includes a Friday Nights ticket.

 

Can’t make Friday night? Don’t worry – we’ve also got the best tables for a relaxed banquet lunch on Thursday or Friday. Tables are for two, at 1pm on Thursday or Friday, and are $65 per head.
