The two-time Bafta-nominated indie film Hard Truths is hitting cinemas soon. And Access is offering members free double passes, so you can see it first. It’s directed by seven-time Academy Award nominee Mike Leigh, and traces the life of Pansy, played poignantly by Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Initially, Pansy appears as belligerent and resentful – near unbearable to watch – as she accosts all who cross her path. Soon, however, you come to see her as a woman struggling under the weight of grief and depression.
Leigh tackles the uncomfortable truth which permeates reality. “In our real world, in all its mess and pain and unresolved confusion, there is no final reckoning. Just moments of happiness that we have to hang on to,” as the Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw put it.
Hard Truths is equal parts comedy and heartbreak; bleak and bright. As an Access member, you can experience it for yourself, by redeeming your double pass.
Tickets will be available from 4pm March 6. Sign up now to score yours.
