We’ve secured a second private tour of this mesmerising new exhibition. The first session sold out fast, but we’ve added another from 8pm to 9.45pm.

ACMI’s Light: Works From Tate’s Collection has been hugely popular since opening in June. Thousands of people are visiting this major multi-art form exhibition every day, but we’ve secured you a private viewing away from the crowds at an exclusive Access event on September 7.

Start with snacks at chef Karen Martini’s Hero. Located within ACMI, the restaurant leans on European cuisine with a dash of Melbourne. You’ll get to try its signature Ortiz anchovy with onion ash on toast, baccala fritte with lemoni, and parfait made with mostarda plum and verjuice jelly. Plus, a glass of bubbles on arrival.

Then, be taken through the exhibition space for a private tour of Light. ACMI curator Laura Castagnini will be there to give first-hand insights into the exhibition’s inspiration, before guiding you through all the works on show.

Curated by Tate, one of the world’s most renowned art institutions, the exhibition includes famous impressionist and romantic paintings, contemporary kinetic sculptures and experimental cinema from the likes of James Turrell and Yayoi Kusama. Each of the 70 works on show slots into one of two broad categories: light used as a theme or source of inspiration, and light used as a literal material or medium.
