Sweets and sushi collide for one weekend only at an exclusive event hosted by the cult patisserie. 

Calling all sushi lovers with a sweet tooth: in celebration of World Sushi Day on June 18, Black Star Pastry is transforming its St Kilda outpost into a Japanese izakaya for one weekend only. The patisserie is bringing back its famed Ari-Gateaux sushi cake, which boasts sweet creations such as rockmelon “nigiri”, finger lime “caviar,” matcha “wasabi” and a pipette of pomegranate “soy sauce”, accompanied by a pair of edible shortbread “chopsticks”. Along with the mouth-watering sushi cake, diners can enjoy neo-Japanese drinks powered by Four Pillars with a selection of reinvented Japanese street food icons. Plus, you’ll get to choose a cake to take home with you (think lavish lemon curd and pistachio ganache layer cake or a Japanese take on the black forest cake with a hojicha sponge).
