Tasmania’s annual festival of darkness is back for 2026, featuring gothic candlelit feasts, unhinged rituals, lauded music acts, edgy theatre and mind-bending art installations. And Broadsheet Access members can immerse themselves in all the joyful weirdness via our exclusive luxe package offer that lets you (and a mate) do Dark Mofo in style.

Over the last 13 years, Dark Mofo has become synonymous with the experiential, the alternative, the artistic and the downright weird. And this year’s festival doubles down on its roots, with large-scale art, feasting, light and noise.

Here’s what you’ll get to experience with our exclusive Dark Mofo luxe packages for two:

  • Weekend tickets to Winter Feast, the pagan-inspired long-table lit by fire and neon. This year’s star is Italian chef Floriano Pellegrino, who helms the Michelin-starred Bros in Lecce, Puglia, alongside Roberto Mele of Hobart’s slow bakery Mama.
  • Solas from Spanish dancer and choreographer Candela Capitán. The mesmerising show sees five dancers in pink lycra and thigh-high boots twist and gyrate in front of five laptops in a commentary on the hollow allure of automated sex and the commodification of women’s bodies.
  • Night Mass, a bacchanalia offering a late-night labyrinth of bars, installations, hidden stages and a huge line-up of musical guests – the full list of which will only be revealed after the festival.
  • Princess Nokia – the “supreme witch” of New York’s hip hop underground – serving up punkish, confessional indie rap at Odeon, the stalwart of Hobart’s live music scene.
  • Exclusive early entry to Dark Park, a harbourside gathering place where you can roam among giant artworks bars, firepits and a stage for local bands. This year, a 48,000-tonne ship – Spirit of Tasmania V – is moored at the park. And packed with robotic dogs.
  • Get to and from Mona in the Posh Pit – the ferry’s VIP section that includes a private lounge, bar and deck, plus complimentary beverages and snacks.
  • Entry to Mona, which plays host to the Sex & Death Day Club (a bar and performance space) as well as a new exhibition by French Swiss artist Julian Charrière – on top of its regular arty offerings.
  • Two nights at Double Tree by Hilton Hobart, the cosily modern hotel positioned less than a kilometre from Constitution Dock and Salamanca Place. Includes a heated pool and a sauna for warming up after all your winter festivities.
