To celebrate the launch of their debut cookbook Madeleines: Simple Bakes for Every Mood, Hyo Ju Park and Rong Yao Soh are hosting an exclusive pop-up afternoon tea at Yugen Tea Bar. And thanks to Broadsheet Access, you’re invited to the delicious celebration of dainty French cakes on Saturday Apri l8.

 

The creative couple, who’ve both worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, opened Madeleine de Proust Patisserie in 2023. Turning out dozens of different types of seashell-shaped bakes – all with a signature bump – the bakery relies on the duo’s meticulous approach to culinary arts honed in some of the world’s best kitchens. And it's quickly become a favourite among Melbourne cake-lovers and visiting devotees.

 

Now Soh and Park have channelled their know-how into a book for home bakers, but that patisserie perfectionism is still on show. Guests at the event can expect four courses dedicated to their favourite treat, including a mini madeleine flight (featuring five bite-size pieces) and further rounds of classic and more experimental flavours. Drinks, including tea and alcohol, will be available for purchase on the day, as will copies of the book.
