Feel like you’re partying in Milan as you join Broadsheet’s editors to test out this huge four-storey restaurant, bar and rooftop for the first time. Expect open-air cocktails, Italian food and plenty of vino.

Chapel Street’s about to get a big shake-up with the opening of Stella, a new four-storey venue by Ali Mousavi, whose father ran Italian restaurants for more than 40 years. And it’s opening exclusively to Access members and Broadsheet editors for a lively night of food and drinks on Thursday September 22 – the week before it opens to the public.

At our exclusive Editors’ Preview night, you’ll road-test three levels of Stella in a free-flowing format. Start on the lush, greenery-packed rooftop terrace with your choice of spritz, plus oysters and gnocco fritto. Then work your way down to Stella’s bustling bar for shared plates of cured kingfish and delicate beef tartare served with bubbles. And finally, on a shared table at an impressive street-level pizza bar (complete with a Marana Forni pizza oven), enjoy a prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella or roast veggie pizza, crab tagliolini, pumpkin agnolotti and classic tiramisu – all courtesy of Stella’s head chef John Park (ex-400 Gradi). Wines will be sangiovese and pinot grigio from Little Vespa.

On the night, Broadsheet’s editorial director Katya Watchel will host a brief Q&A with owner Mousavi to chat about how he brought Stella to life.

There are limited spots available across four two-hour time slots (6pm, 6.45pm, 7.30pm and 8.15pm) for tables of two to 10 guests, so be quick to reserve yours via the link below. Tickets are $70 per person.

The Editors’ Preview night at Stella takes place at 427 Chapel Street on Thursday September 22. Vegetarian and gluten-free dietary requirements can be accommodated.
