Broadsheet Access members are invited to an exclusive Editor's Preview at Ho Liao, the latest opening from chef and restaurateur Junda Khoo. Almost 10 years after he opened the first Ho Jiak in Sydney, he’s bringing the lauded restaurant to Melbourne. And you can sample its menu before the public.

Arrive at 6.30pm, to a house Margarita made using Ho Jiak's Paladar Tequila, before digging into a Malaysian feast. Guests will start with lobak (five-spice meat rolls) and a hot & sour soup, before moving onto larger plates like roast duck, char siu (Cantonese barbequed pork) and asam barramundi, simmered with sambal and tamarind. Then, finish with a sago coconut pudding – using blue pea sago, coconut cream and gula melaka. 

Ho Liao is Khoo’s most expansive restaurant yet. It’ll feature three dining concepts: including a chap fan-inspired kiosk, an upscale restaurant and a rooftop beer hall. “It’s like having three different Ho Jiak concepts: street, elevated/modern and home-style dishes under one roof,” Khoo says.
