Join us for a private, after-hours tour of the groundbreaking exhibition (which has been a decade in the making) including a Q&A with Broadsheet’s editorial director and NGV’s curator of First Nations art.
Ten years on from its landmark debut, the NGV’s Melbourne Now exhibition returns. Its bold new iteration features more than 200 works by Victorian artists and designers, including Christian Thompson, Esther Stewart and Atong Atem. Together, these works serve as an overview of Victoria’s cultural landscape and the people who are shaping it. Expect fashion, jewellery, painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, video, virtual reality, performance, photography, printmaking, publishing, graphic design and more. Plus, 60 world premieres commissioned especially by the NGV.
We’re celebrating the exhibition’s opening with an exclusive, Access-only viewing on Tuesday April 4.
Start with a glass of champagne in the gallery’s foyer, where you’ll hear first-hand insights from NGV curator of First Nations art, Shonae Hobson, in conversation with Broadsheet editorial director Katya Watchel. You’ll then have the rare chance to explore the first floor of the exhibition at your own pace.
There’s the option to continue the celebrations at Flinders Lane restaurant Hazel over an intimate, Access-only dinner centred around Melbourne Now.
Melbourne Now is one of the gallery’s most ambitious exhibitions yet, so don’t miss this opportunity to see it away from the crowds. Purchase your ticket by selecting “general admission” via the link below. You can add the Hazel dinner package at checkout.
Limit of two tickets per member. General admission tickets do not include Hazel dinner.
The first drop of tickets to this event are sold out, but we're releasing a second allocation at 11am on March 20. Register your interest below to receive a reminder shortly before tickets drop.
