David Zhou’s eponymous Chinese eatery is always popular. Now you can skip the waitlist and book in for a feast (including the famous weekend yum cha) with Access.

 

Tucked away on Prahran’s Cecil Place, David’s is one of Melbourne’s most iconic – and well-loved – eateries.

 

The restaurant prides itself on authentic and non-fussy Shanghai cuisine, made using recipes passed down through generations. On weekends, crowds pile in for an endless flow of bao, dumplings, ribs and more at David’s unlimited yum cha – with vegetarian and vegan options available too. And the full evening menu features a number of wholesome dishes rarely found anywhere else.

 

Our top picks from the menu are the saucy crackling pork san choy bow; dumplings stuffed with mapo tofu and Sichuan pepper sauce; and the unmissable Shanghai xiaolongbao with vinegar sauce.

 

Get a table for four at 7pm on Wednesday and Thursday or 8pm on Friday and Saturday. Or, book in for unlimited yum cha at midday on Saturday or 11.30am on Sunday.
