The moody Surry Hills bar and bistro has oysters on rotation, a seafood-driven menu and a slick cocktail list. Now it’s giving you access to members-only banquet tables.
After 10 years of rollicking times, The Rover (formerly known as The Wild Rover) is a more grown-up version of its predecessor – but with the same commitment to good fun and great drinks. Equal parts polished and relaxed, The Rover now serves up a seafood-centric menu inspired by the casual bars and restaurants of East London.
Oysters are the centrepiece, with the daily selection written in chalk on hanging railway timetable boards. The most obvious nod to England is via a curried fish-finger roll with a side of pappadums – a wink to the country’s famous curry houses, and penchant for a fish-finger dinner.
Our top picks from the menu include whole flathead served with clams and garlic; beef tartare with English mustard, fennel mayo and sea urchin; and stone fruit trifle.
Every day of the week, The Rover has set aside tables just for Broadsheet Access members.
Get a table for three or four guests, every day at 6pm or 6.15pm.
You can book 30 days in advance (and a minimum of one day prior) of your desired booking date.
