Be one of the first to try the north-side spin off Middle Eastern dining institution Maha. Expect a one-off menu curated just for members and an intimate Q&A with top Melbourne chef and restaurateur Shane Delia. 

 

Located on Collingwood’s Smith Street, Maha North (formerly Maha Bar) is a classic neighbourhood wine bar, from Shane Delia – the man behind popular Melbourne’s restaurants Maha and Maha East. 

 

From green and gold hues to mirror-adorned walls, Maha North feels like a cosy European brasserie but with Middle Eastern flair. The focus and drawcard, though, is the menu of meze-style snacks and modern spins on traditional Middle Eastern mains.  

 

You’ll be one of the first to experience Maha North when it opens exclusively for Access members for an Editors’ Preview night on Thursday March 23 – just days after it opens to the public. 

 

At this one-off event, sample some of Maha North’s best dishes (including a few off-menu items) such as Wagyu rump cap with creamy harissa; hummus topped with roast capsicum, dill and onions; and haloumi dressed with honey, fig and lemon thyme and butter roasted walnuts. Plus, Maha’s signature Iraqi flat bread with toum. 

 

You’ll also have the chance to purchase wines from a 150-strong list of local and international drops. Or, try a bespoke Maha North cocktail. 

 

On the night, Broadsheet’s publications director Nick Connellan will host a Q&A with Delia to discuss how Maha North came to life and how it aims to bring all the best of Maha to the inner north.
